August 2023 Financial Transparency

Thank you to each of you who have reached out, donated, supported survivors, and begun the process of educating yourself on this life-saving work. We are in awe of each survivor and their bravery to begin and continue the healing journey.

As many of you know, Cynthia has continued to do this work free of charge. As we proceed with the fourth month of the hotline, it is not slowing down. Cynthia learned of the GRACE organization through attorneys who highly recommended GRACE for churches in crisis. GRACE (https://www.netgrace.org/independent-investigations) has been contacted by several states in an attempt to conduct private investigations and to create policies and procedures. To give context, GRACE charges $300-500/hour and $40-$100,000 per investigation of 30-40 cases. As there are well over 500 perpetrators, the minimum total charges would be $2,000,000.00. This work is what Cynthia and the team have been doing free of charge since March 24, 2023.

A faith community that has no formal structure, no serious accountability mechanisms, and little interest in vetting leaders that it sends into homes across the country, is a community that will undoubtedly attract those who want to easily access and hurt children.  Tragically, that is exactly what has been reportedly happening for decades in Truth communities throughout the world.

Advocates For The Truth is funding our inaugural Healing with Horses all-male camp. The camp is set to take place September 15-17, 2023 on the East Coast. (Value of $6,000 + travel expense per person). Four male survivors will heal & benefit from this equine therapy with two trauma therapists. All expenses are being paid by donations received through AFTT.

As of August 1, 2023, a total of 75 survivors have received counseling resources as a result of donations received.  The need for additional funds is and will continue for many years to be constant. Many of these survivors are in need of inpatient care and as of now, Fund Recovery can only cover one to two survivors’ inpatient care. The amount of survivors is still coming in at a far greater rate than donations.

Many people are not aware of the costs associated with therapy.  Of course these costs vary due to service provider and location.

5-day inpatient: $4,000 - $10,000
Month of Inpatient $30,000 - $50,000
Month of Outpatient $12,000 - $15,000
Trauma Therapy $250 - $450 per session
Regular therapy $150 - $250 per session

Little Hooves and Big Hearts current goal is $250,000 of which we have received $15,334 to date.  Additionally, LHBH has generously donated $9,000 to kick off a start to the fund in addition to legal and admin fees directly associated with adding our mission to their charity organization. They have donated an equine therapy camp for six survivors in October.  The survivors are preparing for their October retreat.

Fund Recovery’s current goal is $250,000 of which we have received $70,986 to date.  Through Fund Recovery we have assisted 56 survivors who have received therapy.  There is an urgent need for a number of the survivors to receive in-patient care.

Advocates For The Truth's goal is $250,000.  AFTT has received $55,300 to date.  Those funds are being used to cover overhead of AFTT in addition to providing therapy to international survivors. We are currently providing ongoing trauma therapy to four survivors in Mexico and Brazil, and we are on track to provide trauma therapy to several more survivors in Central and South America in the next few weeks.  In addition, we are launching the all-male survivor camp discussed above.

Costs of overhead include but are not limited to:
Legal costs
Investigative fees
Wages for an additional part-time PI which will be expanded to a full time PI.
Travel for investigative work
Supplies

We understand that some may have trust issues regarding how finances are handled and know that transparency on finances is important.

The need for help for these survivors is immense and every donation counts.  No donation is too small, so please donate as you can.  If everyone were to donate their minimum, the results would be astounding.  The survivors and Advocates For The Truth need your help and support.

Together we are making a difference: raising awareness, creating exposure and healing lives!
